C-F-S Executive Program Outline
While our programs are individually tailored to your needs, all programs begin with a three part Career Assessment and Planning process, designed to provide both you and your consultant with an understanding of the past and present in your terms, as well as a future vision. This will form the foundation for your career strategy and will be followed by development of a marketing campaign and action plan to achieve your agreed outcome.
The typical stages of our Executive Programs are:-
Career Self Assessment > Career Review and Planning > Career Achievements > Resume > Self Marketing > Interviews > Follow Up > Salary Negotiation
1. Career Self Assessment
You will spend time privately reviewing each important aspect of your career to date; in particular, what drove your career choices, the highs and lows of your career, what gave you job satisfaction, your career aspirations and expectations.
2. Career Review and Planning
With your consultant, you will then spend several hours analysing the results of your self-assessment exercise in order to understand you more fully. A simple and accurate tool, the Happiness Matrix allows you to be guided toward industry sectors, both private and public, that you would be more likely to find job satisfaction within. This is used in conjunction with our Career Satisfaction Matrix to help determine the many options available to fulfill your career and personal goals and aspirations. With your consultant you will then develop a plan or personal specification that takes into account of the current, mid and long term and forms the foundation for you becoming a sought after and saleable product.
3. Career Achievements
Once you have agreed the plan, we focus on your achievements relative to the plan. This phase will ensure your written and verbal communication supports the direction(s) you have chosen and will start the marketing process.
4. Resume and Covering Letter
A draft resume or profile will be prepared that reflects these career achievements and supports the career objective. Selection Criteria (State or Federal Government), cover letters for any number of advertised jobs, strategic marketing communications, as required will all be prepared for your approval.
5. Self Marketing and Sales Training
A great deal of importance is placed on your communication skills, as it is now a marketing and sales project. Your role is to clearly articulate your value proposition to your network effectively. Our role is to ensure you do it better than your competitors.
6. Networking
Building a new network is a task that C-F-S Executive will simplify for you. The days of making cold calls have long gone. The gatekeepers of today are far too sophisticated to be duped by old fashioned phrases and ideas. We will give you a simplified way of developing your local or global target network. You will then strategically communicate with the appropriate decision makers in the right industries and companies in the right geographical areas to suit you. The aim will be to get about 35% to 40% to respond to the strategic communication. Of those you can generally expect that 3 or 4 will invite you to a meeting or to talk further.
You will be invited to be linked to a number of organisations that are specific in focus and capable of helping you. You will be invited to join the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and their Director’s Register. From time to time you will be invited to join the C-F-S Executive team at networking functions offered by the AICD and other significant networking opportunities in manufacturing, financial services, accounting, construction and pharmaceutical, as well as and many other sectors and professions as required.
C-F-S Executive also holds a series of boardroom luncheons where many senior executives are invited to join you so that you meet decision makers who you would not normally have access to. You will have access to these networking resources for the remainder of your career. C-F-S Executive will pay for you to attend at least one AICD conference (excluding accommodation and travel costs).
7. Interviews
Your senior consultant will prepare you immediately for the first 30 seconds of the meeting and then prepare you for the ongoing conversation, ensuring your answers and questions are impactful and appropriate to the audience. Video training is normally available to clients who have access whereby your interview performances are choreographed and recorded for review until you are completely happy with your result. Your Senior Executive Consultant will cover training for behavioural as well as technical and director styled interview methods.
8. Follow Up
Having taken the first step to develop a "sophisticated network", your senior executive consultant will give you the tools to use for the subsequent and strategic follow up processes. You will be supported by an executive assistant who is available to assist you at any time with all manner of communications.
9. Salary Negotiation
Your consultant will assist you in reviewing the contracts and letters of offer or appointment that you receive. They will also conduct referee checks and briefings to ensure suitability and alignment with the marketing plan.
You will be provided with an understanding of how to manage salary requirement questions and will assist you in developing effective negotiating techniques to increase your chances of getting what you deserve.
